Student Services
Hickory Creek Middle School's Student Services is designed to help all students reach their full potential through support services, including prevention, assistance, transition, and follow-up services for students. Student Services can provide direct services for all students, especially those who are experiencing problems that create barriers to access and success. Direct services are provided by means such as education, counseling, consultation, advisement and individual assessment.
At Hickory Creek Middle School, Student Services consist of the following:

Erin's Law Referral Form
Erin’s Law is a state mandated, age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education program for students Pre-K through 12th grade. Erin’s Law requires that children be educated by law in schools on sexual abuse in a child friendly manner, for the purpose of informing and protecting students from sexual abuse. Warning signs of abuse include, but not limited to, the following: prolonged depression or withdrawal from family and peers, displays knowledge or interest in sexual acts that are inappropriate for his/her age, makes strong efforts to avoid a specific person without an obvious reason, runs away from home, signs of physical discomfort, aggressive behavior towards others, and mistreatment of animals and other children.
To report a sexual abused situation as described above, please complete the “Erin’s Law Referral Form” below and submit. Hickory Creek Middle School appreciates your communication and support in ensuring the safety and welfare of all students.

Hickory Creek Bullying Referral Form
Bullying is defined as a situation in which a student is exposed repeatedly and over time to negative actions on the part of one or more students. Negative actions can include inappropriate gestures, written statements, verbal remarks, or physical acts of aggression that place the student in reasonable fear of harm to his person or property, or that has the effect of insulting or demeaning any student in such a way as to interfere with their education.
Bullying most often will occur when a student asserts physical or psychological power over, or is cruel to, another student perceived to be weaker than they are for an ongoing period of time.
Bullying revolves around the basic premise that there is some imbalance of power between the aggressor and the victim. This can be either physical or psychological in nature. Therefore, conflicts and arguments that develop between friends or students of comparable social and physical standing do not fall in the arena of bullying. These situations need to be mediated and are met with consequences in accordance with the School Handbook, but they are typically not considered bullying-related incidences.
