From the Principal
Welcome to Hickory Creek Middle School,
As the principal of Hickory Creek, I am humbled and proud to serve every member of our “HCMS family.” I began my career at Aptakisic Jr. High School in Buffalo Grove in 1995. After spending two years teaching there, I spent a year at Crete Monee Middle School before arriving at Hickory Creek Middle School in 1998. My tenure at Hickory Creek includes teaching Social Studies, ELA and Technology. After seventeen years of classroom work at HCMS, I transitioned to become an Instructional Coach for the District, working with ELA teachers in grades 3-8. In 2018 I stepped into the role as Assistant Principal and after two years of serving in that role, I am ecstatic to be the Principal this year. Hickory Creek has been my professional home and I credit the quality of experiences that I have had to be a result of working with the staff, students and families of District 157c.
We are firmly committed at Hickory Creek to reach the “Whole Child” as students share their formative years with us. This includes rigorous academics that challenge each individual to reach their potential as well as social and emotional learning goals. Our staff is second to none when it comes to collaboration and dedication to achievement. Although this past year has thrown many curve balls to everyone, I am incredibly proud of the learning that our students experienced during the Pandemic. Thank you to our families for heling us to keep the value of safety and education at the forefront of all decisions that have been made.
Please feel free to reach out anytime to share compliments, concerns or questions. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 815-469-4474.
