"Tea with Me!" UPDATE
On May 10th at 1, student's will be putting together a special day just for a special lady in their life. This can be mom, grandma, aunt, etc... One lady per child. No younger siblings, please.

This day will begin in the big gym for a special presentation made by all of the kindergarten classes. Following the presentation, children will be dismissed to their classrooms. Once all children are in their rooms, they will let the special ladies go to their child's classroom. Here our class will continue spoiling the special ladies with various activities. One will be a nail painting station... just a head's up if you have a mani scheduled prior to this day.

If your child's special lady has not yet had their license scanned, please step in prior to May 10th to have it scanned. There will be a long line on the day of the event. All attendees must have their license scanned.

IF your child's special lady is unable to attend, feel free to email me and send a different special lady. If no special lady will be present, please let me know as soon as possible. This way I can ask a staff member to join us!
LWSRA Field Trip
We are excited to celebrate the end of the year with our Kindergarten friends at the LWSRA playground with a picnic and some FUN! We hope that you can join the fun too! Students can bring a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or special adult in their life. While our hope is that each student has a special adult, we understand if that cannot be arranged. We kindly ask that you let us know ahead of time so that we can ensure that all students have a friend to eat lunch with. Additionally, if you, or a special adult, will NOT be joining us, we ask that you send a prepacked lunch with your student to enjoy at the playground. A form was sent home on 5/3. Please return by 5/28 so we can make arrangements.

Students will be arriving at LWSRA at approximately 10:30am. Special adults can meet us at the LWSRA at 10:30am with lunch for their child. Feel free to bring blankets to sit on, outdoor equipment (football, Frisbee, etc.) picnic essentials, etc. Students will load the busses to go back to Grand Prairie around 1pm. Teachers will have a sign out sheet ready at the park if you choose to take your student home at that time. We kindly ask that you DO NOT send you student with their backpacks this day if you will be taking them home after the park, as they will not be returning to school to pick them up!

We are hoping for great weather for our picnic, however if it does rain, we will have a normal day of school and we will NOT be rescheduling the LWSRA event. HOWEVER, you are still able to join your student for our normal lunch time, 11:35-11:55pm. We will have sign outs available if you choose to take your student home after lunch. If we will not be going to LWSRA, I will send an email and Seesaw message by 10 to let you know. If you don't hear from me, that is a good sign, and the picnic is still on.

We look forward to seeing all of you on June 3 for our LWSRA Field Trip!!! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Field Day
Kindergarten Field Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29th from 9-11. The rain date is scheduled for Friday, June 7th from 9-11.

This year the PE staff will be taking 5 volunteers per class. All volunteers will be helping to run the game stations. All the stations will be ready to go, and the PE staff will give you the rules/equipment. These stations cannot work without your help! If you want to volunteer, you will need to be available for the scheduled date AND the rain date as well for planning purposes.

Please respond by Friday, May 10! All volunteers must have their license scanned in the office prior to our Field Day event. If you have not already had your license scanned, please stop by the GP office prior to May 29th!
JDRF
What is JDRF? JDRF is a non-profit organization that helps families and young children with Type 1 Diabetes. This organization is something I hold near and dear to my heart because just over a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. During this fundraiser, I will teach children what Type 1 Diabetes is.

Our JDRF school wide fundraiser will kick off on April 29th and end on May 31st. A form was sent home on 4/26 describing the spirit days available for how much we raise. Use the QR code and you will be directed to the GP JDRF website. You may also use JDRF One Walk, Chicago Suburbs 2024: Grand Prairie Elementary School - JDRF One Walk Please be sure to sign your student under Ms. Sol's Class.

Mr. V and Mrs. Borden will send out a motivation over Seesaw when incentives will be. Last is a list of prizes from JDRF. Depending on how much money you raise, you will determine what is earned. Some will be mailed in June/July and others will be mailed in October. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Amazon Wish List
Please consider purchasing an order from our Classroom Wish List. I will use our Amazon Wish List throughout the year as needs come up for special events and projects. I frequently do themed days as a reward and transform the room into something magical. Any donation would be appreciated, but do NOT feel like you must. Thank you so much for supporting our learning.

Please send your child to school with a snack everyday, EVEN ON HALF DAYS! Whether they are getting hot lunch or not we will still be having snack in the classroom. If you do not know if your child is getting a hot lunch or not, reach out to the office.
