"Tea with Me!" UPDATE
On May 10th at 1, student's will be putting together a special day just for a special lady in their life. This can be mom, grandma, aunt, etc... One lady per child. No younger siblings, please.

This day will begin in the big gym for a special presentation made by all of the kindergarten classes. Following the presentation, children will be dismissed to their classrooms. Once all children are in their rooms, they will let the special ladies go to their child's classroom. Here our class will continue spoiling the special ladies with various activities. One will be a nail painting station... just a head's up if you have a mani scheduled prior to this day.

If your child's special lady has not yet had their license scanned, please step in prior to May 10th to have it scanned. There will be a long line on the day of the event. All attendees must have their license scanned.

IF your child's special lady is unable to attend, feel free to email me and send a different special lady. If no special lady will be present, please let me know as soon as possible. This way I can ask a staff member to join us!
Field Day
Kindergarten Field Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29th from 9-11. The rain date is scheduled for Friday, June 7th from 9-11.

This year the PE staff will be taking 5 volunteers per class. All volunteers will be helping to run the game stations. All the stations will be ready to go, and the PE staff will give you the rules/equipment. These stations cannot work without your help! If you want to volunteer, you will need to be available for the scheduled date AND the rain date as well for planning purposes.

Please respond by Friday, May 10! All volunteers must have their license scanned in the office prior to our Field Day event. If you have not already had your license scanned, please stop by the GP office prior to May 29th!

You should have received the message below from Dr. Frankovich and Mrs. Szudy on 4/24. We truly appreciate you completing the t-shirt survey! Families only need to complete one survey per student. Thank you!

JDRF
What is JDRF? JDRF is a non-profit organization that helps families and young children with Type 1 Diabetes. This organization is something I hold near and dear to my heart because just over a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. During this fundraiser, I will teach children what Type 1 Diabetes is.

Our JDRF school wide fundraiser will kick off on April 29th and end on May 31st. A form was sent home on 4/26 describing the spirit days available for how much we raise. Use the QR code and you will be directed to the GP JDRF website. You may also use JDRF One Walk, Chicago Suburbs 2024: Grand Prairie Elementary School - JDRF One Walk Please be sure to sign your student under Ms. Sol's Class.

Mr. V and Mrs. Borden will send out a motivation over Seesaw when incentives will be. Last is a list of prizes from JDRF. Depending on how much money you raise, you will determine what is earned. Some will be mailed in June/July and others will be mailed in October. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
How To Writing Unit
On Friday, April 26, your child brought home some of their How-To writing work. They have been working hard on following the writing process (think, draw, label, write, color, edit, and publish). Part of their publishing celebration is showing you their hard work! Use this as an opportunity to ask them questions and practice editing their work. It is great to see how much they have learned when given a blank canvas to show their ideas. Moving forward, we will be working on Teatime activities. Following Teatime, we will move into our persuasive writing unit!
Parent Input Survey
The planning process for the 2024-2025 school year has begun! This is a lengthy process as there are many factors we consider as we develop our schedule and class list. We work with your child's current teacher as a part of our comprehensive process and invite you to provide your input as well.

We welcome you to share your perspective on your child's placement for the coming school year. Please communicate your child's learning style along with his or her educational and social emotional needs on the form sent home 4/2. This survey is for 2024-2025 Grand Prairie students only. A different survey is used for Chelsea class placement.

Providing this information about your child is optional. If you choose to share your input, please utilize this form to do so, as it is our official way to collect this important information to you. Please do not contact your child's teacher or another staff member regarding placement requests for next school year as we cannot guarantee we will receive that information for our placement process.

In the survey, please explain the type of classroom environment or teaching style that is most beneficial for your child's academic and social emotional needs. Unfortunately, we cannot honor requests for specific teachers. If you choose to share your input, please complete this survey and return it to Grand Prairie by May 3, 2024.

We look forward to your partnership in planning a successful 2024-2025 school year!
Amazon Wish List
Please consider purchasing an order from our Classroom Wish List. I will use our Amazon Wish List throughout the year as needs come up for special events and projects. I frequently do themed days as a reward and transform the room into something magical. Any donation would be appreciated, but do NOT feel like you must. Thank you so much for supporting our learning.
