E-LEARNING
In the event of extreme weather that does not allow in-person instruction, (or any other reason the building is shut down) our district has established an E-Learning Plan that will enable us to continue our instruction. This will be considered a regular school day where we will meet with our students through Microsoft Teams on their laptops/devices. This is the same schedule as when we were Remote Teaching as a district in the past. Attendance will be taken each morning at 9:00AM. Please follow normal procedures and communicate with our front office if your child will not attend school remotely that day.
Below, families can find the 4th Grade schedule for Remote Learning. It's a mixture of direct instruction, independent work, breaks, lunch and PE/specials classes.

Quarter 4 Curriculum
Math - Eureka Module 4: Geometry
This 20-day module introduces points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles, as well as the relationships between them. Students construct, recognize, and define these geometric objects before using their new knowledge and understanding to classify figures and solve problems. With angle measure playing a key role in their work throughout the module, students learn how to create and measure angles, as well as create and solve equations to find unknown angle measures. In these problems, where the unknown angle is represented by a letter, students explore both measuring the unknown angle with a protractor and reasoning through the solving of an equation. Through decomposition and composition activities as well as an exploration of symmetry, students recognize specific attributes present in two-dimensional figures. They further develop their understanding of these attributes as they classify two-dimensional figures based on them.
Science - Energizing Everything:
In this unit, students explore energy! Students investigate how energy is stored, how it can make objects move, and how collisions transfer energy between objects. Students also construct devices that convert energy from one form into another, such as heat into motion and electricity into light. We will explore the following mysteries...
Mystery 1: How is your body similar to a car?
Mystery 2: What makes roller coasters go so fast?
Mystery 3: Why is the first hill of a rollercoaster always the highest?
Mystery 4: Could you knock down a building using dominoes?
Mystery 5: Can you build a chain reaction machine?
Mystery 6: What if there were no electricity?
Mystery 7: How long did it take to travel the world before trains and planes?
Mystery 8: Where does energy come from?
Mystery 9: Can you turn a flashlight on without touching it?
Social Studies - West Region
We will continue our study of the United States Regions this quarter! With the West Regions of the United States, we will be exploring the culture and geography of this corner of our country. Throughout our unit, we will be reading informational texts and also studying the locations of these states, identifying the capitals, and memorizing the abbreviations. At the end of the quarter, students will be responsible for memorizing the locations, capitals, and abbreviations of these states. At the conclusion of this unit, we will begin our culminating activity to celebrate our knowledge of all 50 states. More information to come!
West Region Quiz Date: Wednesday, April 30th
Social Studies & Science share the same scheduled time in our day, so we switch halfway through the quarter.
