Student Financial Assistance Program
- Frankfort School District 157-C offers financial assistance for families who qualify. To
qualify for free lunch/fee waiver, families must meet the income thresholds under the
Federal Poverty Guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the
National School Lunch Program.
Families may also be eligible for financial assistance due to temporary financial hardships caused by the loss of one’s home due to fire, unemployment, illness, or other emergencies that create a severe impact on family income levels.
To be considered for financial assistance, families must complete an application and submit
supporting financial documentation. Financial assistance is granted only for the current school year and is not retroactive. Families must reapply each school year. Fees not covered by financial assistance are the responsibility of the families. Payment plans may be enacted for balances on student accounts.
Financial Assistance available:
- Free Lunch-one lunch meal daily.
- Student fee waiver-School fees and selected program fees are waived.
How to Apply:
A pdf version of the application is available here. This form may be dropped off at the District Office. Supporting documentation must be included with the application or review will be delayed.
All supporting documentation and income verification must be submitted with your application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed until all documents are submitted.
Required supporting documents:
- Federal Income Tax Return (1040)- If you have not filed for the current tax year or
have requested an extension, an affidavit must be completed and W-2’s for each
wage earner in the household for the current tax year are to be submitted.
- Two current, consecutive pay stubs for each wage earner in the household.
OR:
- SNAP/TANF benefit letter with case number
- Other applicable supporting documents as requested by Frankfort 157-C
If there is no source of income, please provide information on how housing, clothing and food is supplied for your family.

The following is the definition of income:
Income is defined as any monies earned before any deductions such as income taxes, social security taxes, insurance premiums, charitable contributions,and bonds. It includes the following: (1) monetary compensation for services including wages, salary, commissions, or fees; (2) net income from non-farm self-employment; (3) net income from farm self-employment; (4) social security; (5) dividends or interest on savings or bonds or income from estates or trusts; (6) net rental income; (7) public assistance or welfare payments; (8) unemployment compensation; (9) government civilian employee or military retirement or pensions or veteran payments; (10) private pensions or
annuities; (11) alimony or child support payments; (12) regular contributions from persons not living in the household; (13) net royalties; and (14) other cash income. Other cash income would include cash amounts received or withdrawn from any source including savings, investments, trust accounts, and other resources which would be available to pay the price of a child's meal.
