About Me

Hello Everyone! My name is Kris Vandenberg and I am one of the awesome PE Teachers here at Grand Prairie! Prior to being a part of the GP family, I worked at Mokena Elementary School for six years as the PE Teacher.
Before I became a PE teacher I attended Illinois State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education Teacher Education from the School of Kinesiology. While at Illinois State, I played on the Men’s Hockey team and was also an Assistant Captain. The last two seasons the team made National Championship appearances where we finished 3rd in the nation during the ’12- ’13 season and 13th in the nation during the '13-'14 season. I have over 20 years of playing experience and over10 years of experience being a coach where I am currently the assistant JV coach at Providence Catholic. I also holds endorsements in Driver Education through Olivette Nazarene, my Learning and Behavior Specialist: Level 1 through University of St. Francis as well as a Secondary Health Education endorsement through Northern Illinois University.
