About Me

Hello Everyone! My name is Kris Vandenberg and I am one of the awesome PE Teachers here at Grand Prairie! Prior to being a part of the GP family, I worked at Mokena Elementary School for six years as the PE Teacher.
Before I became a PE teacher I attended Illinois State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education Teacher Education from the School of Kinesiology. While at Illinois State, I played on the Men’s Hockey team. During my time on the team I was an Assistant Captain and was also a part of the leadership committee. The last two seasons the team made National Championship appearances where we finished 3rd in the nation during the ’12- ’13 season and 13th in the nation during the '13-'14 season. I have over 20 years of playing experience and 10 years of experience being a coach where I am currently the assistant JV coach at Providence Catholic. I also holds endorsements in Driver Education through Olivette Nazarene, my Learning and Behavior Specialist: Level 1 through University of St. Francis as well as a Secondary Health Education endorsement through Northern Illinois University.
Outside of teaching and coaching, I enjoy being active and being with family and friends.
