Second Quarter Curriculum
🧮 Math:
Module 3: Multi Digit Multiplication and Division
In this 43-day module, students use place value understanding and visual representations to solve multiplication and division problems with multi-digit numbers. As a key area of focus for Grade 4, this module moves slowly but comprehensively to develop students’ ability to reason about the methods and models chosen to solve problems with multi-digit factors and dividends.
🧪Science:
Human Body, Senses, & the Brain
This introductory human body unit takes the perspective that we can think about our bodies as being like a machine. We have parts for moving around, sensors, and a built-in computer. Students explore their senses and consider how the information we process helps us understand and react to our environment.
🌎Social Studies:
The Southeast Region
We will study the Southwest region of the United States. Students will learn the states and capitals of these regions as well as important features and industries. Students will be quizzed on labeling a map with the names of the states and their matching capital cities at the end of the unit.
📚 ELA:
See Ms. Stauffacher's page for what your child will be up to in ELA.
