Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year! I hope you have had a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer. It has been an extended summer for our district staff and families due to the Chelsea construction project, so the transition to a consistent routine is a welcome one for many now that we are into September and are returning to school. I am a creature of habit and look forward to learning about the students, teaching them about how to further develop their speech and language skills and improving their overall communication skills to improve their school experiences.
I enjoy working with and learning about my students and consider my time with them invaluable. Besides our work in speech, speech homework may be provided to practice and reinforce learned skills outside of school. While in speech and within the school, we will abide by the expectations of demonstrating respect, responsibility and caring.
At the end of this school year, I will have completed my 20th year in our district and 23+ years of teaching. I began my teaching career in Addison, IL, near where I grew up. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Northern Illinois University. Go Huskies! My family and I have called this area home for over 18 years and Michigan our second home for over 4 years. My husband and I have two teenage daughters. One is a junior in high school and the other in 8th grade. Our toy Poodle Pepper is loving girl to all the humans in our family and our calico Ruby only loves machines….she dashes to her food dish when the automatic feeder drops the kitty kibbles!
As with last year, I will be working with students at Grand Prairie (Wednesdays & Fridays) and Chelsea (Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays) Schools. I look forward to working with you and your children. I anticipate continued growth in the relationships with the students with whom I have had the pleasure of working during the last school year and look forward to forming new partnerships with the students beginning this year. I appreciate your time and anticipate a productive and enjoyable 2023-2024 school year.
Sincerely,
