Weekly Information

Hello Families,

Remote Day-  Friday, January 23rd, 2026

As you know, a message has been sent out from the district announcing the decision for school to have remote learning on Friday, January 23rd.  Please be sure to charge your child's device so it is ready for the E-learning day.
ELA students are bringing home a purple folder with all of our materials for the day. It    should be in their take home folder.
We will be using the E-learning schedule found on my teacher page and in the take home folder.  Students will need to be on Teams at 9:05 AM.  Students will be live for approximately one hour in the morning (starting at 9:05 with Block 1 teacher) and one hour later in the morning (starting at 11:10 with Block 2 teacher).  The other times your child will have assignments to work on independently, but Mrs. Williamson and I will be available throughout the day for assistance if necessary.

Mrs. Williamson and I will be available during the day via Teams chat.  Students should NOT post comments on the general page on Teams.  To chat a teacher, students will click on CHAT at the left of the screen while in Teams.  This will be a private conversation between the teacher and the student.  Comments on the general page are seen by everyone and make it difficult to see the important information posted by the teacher.

We will be using the posts section on Teams to guide the kids through the day's schedule.  When your child isn't sure what to do, please encourage him/her to look at our "general" posts page.  They may need to scroll up if the directions were from earlier in the day.  Directions will be given during our meeting AND posted within our Teams as well.
In addition to ELA, Math, Science/Social Studies, the PE and Encore activities will be posted in TEAMS as well.

Student attendance will be taken through Teams after students join our first meeting at 9:05 AM.  If you are electing not to participate in our e-learning day, you will need to email Jeanine Johnson ([email protected]) to report your child's absence.

Students will need the following materials again...
  • Computer and charger (Check that the computer is charged & ready to go.)
  • Headphones- (optional... but suggested to support focus or eliminate distractions)
  • backpack & laptop bag with their remote ziplock bag & math workbook (red book)
  • sharpened pencil(s)
  • scratch paper/notebook

If you have any technical problems, use this link to contact our technical support department within the district.  They will be able to guide you with actions to solve technology problems.
I will do my best to respond to emails and messages, but it may take some time, as I am trying to teach online. Technology is wonky and sometimes beyond our control. If your child is not able to access a Teams meeting for whatever reason, please don't stress. They have everything they need to be able to complete the day's activities. I am truly grateful for your help, support, and flexibility from home as we navigate through our remote learning day.

Classroom Focus
Arrival and Dismissal
We continue to work on classroom routines when entering the classroom in the morning and packing up for dismissal.  Step by step directions on what to do are always on the front PowerPoint.  It should be followed very easily.
Dismissal can be a bit crazy but the reminders are again on the board. The students can look at the checklist of what to unpack or pack up and what to have out for class.

Homework / Assignment Notebook
We need to focus on bringing these items home and then returning them each day.  Too many kids are forgetting multiple time a week.  I will be keeping track of missing homework to hopefully help us improve.

Talking
Too much random talking during lessons and work time continue to happen.  We have many great examples of hardworking students but we need more students to help us out.

Students will get a check by their name when they talk or make a poor choice.  Three checks in a day will result in a REFLECTION. Hopefully we will see improvement.

Math
We are working through module 5.  Today's lesson is lesson 4.  Please keep up on all homework. Fractions are a very long module and each day builds on the previous day.  Students need to stay focused and on top of all lessons.

 Computers go home on Wednesdays
Laptops can be brought home on Wednesday.  They need to come back.  First Priority is Reflex.  Zearn, Prodigy and Freckle are all the next options for what to do.  Each week I assign a few assignments in Prodigy and Freckle for students to work on throughout the week.  In Zearn, we would like students to plug away on the weekly lessons when possible.

We are into the Midwest region. We will discuss the climate, land, economy and so on. We have done the States and Capitals as well as placement.  Please review at home.  We will test the middle of February.
