About Mrs. O'Hea

Hi Students and Families! My name is Tara O'Hea, and I'm happy to be your teacher this year! I have two degrees: A Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Norbert College as well as a Master's Degree in Special Education from Northern Illinois University. I am certified as a Learning Behavior Specialist I for Pre-K-12th grade, and I am also a certified middle school and high school English Language Arts Teacher (6th-12th grade). I am a student council sponsor here at HCMS as well as the Team 8A Leader.

I have a passion for teaching and love working with middle school students. As an avid reader, I enjoy discussing books with my students. I love writing and journaling, and working with all of the writers in my class is one of my favorite parts of teaching.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our three young adult children, and our two rescue cats, Wednesday and Norbert. In addition to reading and journaling, I also enjoy yoga, mahjong, nature walks, traveling, and going to concerts. I also enjoy storytelling and have performed at several venues throughout the Chicago suburbs.

In my class, you can expect an open environment where everyone is valued and respected. We read and have discussions about a variety of topics. We also write and share our writing with each other. I am always so proud of my class and how much they improve throughout the year. It is an honor to watch them grow from the beginning of eighth grade all the way to graduation.
