2025 - 2026 School Year
As we head into the second half of the quarter, we shift our focus to literature standards. We have a heavy focus on point of view. Not only will students identify the point of view of the text, but they will learn how to describe how a narrator's POV impacts how events are described. Other skills students will be working on are: explaining how characters respond to challenges, determining the theme of a text, using exact text evidence to prove what an author is trying to say both explicitly and when drawing inferences, and determining the meaning of unknown words and phrases, as well as figurative language (specifically similes and metaphors). Students will also be working on narrative writing as they learn how to continue a story and write from a different character's point of view.
