Week at a Glance: February 2nd - 6th
*Reading:📚
EQ – How can people work together to make a change?
This week we will explore sequence in informational texts. Students will read about changemaker, Bellen Woodward, who created crayons that hep kids feel included while celebrating their differences. The literary summative assessment will be on Thursday 2/5.
*Math:📊
Module 4 – Multiplication & Area
This week we will continue Module 4 - Multiplication and Area. We will complete lesson 14, review, and take the end-module assessment on Friday.
*Writing: 📝
This week we will continue our research sim unit. Students will read articles and respond to the prompt, "Why Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks important to the Civil Rights Movement.
*Social Studies: 🌍
We will continue our government unit and learn about taxes, US symbols, and voting.
*Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. Our lessons 3rd grade students will begin the week of February 1st. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
