Week at a Glance: February 16th - 20th
*Reading:📚
EQ – How can people work together to make a change?
This week we will begin our Q3 literary unit. We will read and analyze the illustrations in the books "Kamala & Maya's Big Idea" and "Brave Girl." We will also discuss character traits and motivation.
*Math:📊
Module 5 - Fractions on a Number Line
This week we will continue Module 4 - Multiplication and Area. We will complete lessons 7-9. Students will identify fractions greater and less than 1 whole. We will also show fractions as number bonds.
*Writing: 📝
This week we will begin our literary analysis unit. Students will read the stories "Reggie the Reader" and "Making Friends with Pizza" and respond to the prompt, "How is the theme of helping others has positive results represented in both stories?"
*Social Studies: 🌍
We will continue our Black History Month unit.
*Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. Our lessons 3rd grade students will begin the week of February 1st. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
