Week at a Glance: October 20th-24th 

 

*Reading:📚 

EQ – What is change?

This week we will review finding main idea and details, nonfiction text features, and comparing our point of view with the author of a text. We will read "The Wolves of Isle Royale," Mystery Monster," "Wildfires," and "The Power of Stink." Students will take the Informational Outcome Assessment on Thursday, October 23rd.

 

*Math:📊 

Module 2 – Place Value and Problem Solving with Units of Measure

This week we will continue Module 2 and complete lessons 12-16. Students will round to the nearest 10 and 100. We will also review addition with single and double regrouping.

 

*Writing: 📝

This week students will wrap up our narrative PCR unit and focus on retelling a story from a different character's point of view. 

 

*Science: 🧪
We will continue our unit "Habitats, Fossils, and Environments Over Time."
 
 
*Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. Our lessons  3rd grade students will begin the week of February 1st. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
