Week at a Glance: March 2nd - 6th
*Reading:📚
EQ – How can people work together to make a change?
This week we will use context clues to find the meaning of unknown words and analyze illustrations as well as character traits and motivations with the novel "Me and Mister P" by Maria Ferrer. Our literary summative assessment will be on Friday, March 6th.
*Math:📊
Module 5 - Fractions on a Number Line
This week we will continue Module 5 - Fractions on a Number Line. We will complete lessons 15, 16, & 18. Students will put fractions less than and greater than one on a number line. We will also begin to compare fractions using number lines.
*Writing: 📝
This week we will continue our literary analysis unit. Students will read the stories "The Wolf and the Kid" and "The Fisherman and the Little Fish" and respond to the prompt, "Compare & contrast the characters of the Wolf and Fisherman and their actions."
*Science: 🌍
We will continue our units on Forces and Motion. This week we will complete Mystery 2 - "Balanced Forces and Engineering" and students will create paper bridges.
*Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. Our lessons 3rd grade students will begin the week of February 1st. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
