Meet Mrs. Martin

Hi! It's nice to meet you!

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! This marks my 12th year as an ELA teacher and my 8th year at Hickory Creek.

     I earned my Bachelor's Degree in English Education from Trinity Christian College and later received my Master's Degree in Reading at Olivet Nazarene University. Alongside teaching, I've had the privilege of coaching girls basketball for 6 seasons at both middle and high school levels, but I am currently taking a step back from coaching for the time being in order to spend more time at home with my two daughters. 

       Outside of school, my heart is at home with my family. Spending time with my husband, two daughters aged 2.5 years and 4 months, and my cat fills my cup. As a self-professed homebody, I love curling up on the couch reading a good book or watching a new show. 

      As an educator, my top priority is igniting a love for reading in my students. I firmly believe that once they discover the joy of reading, all other literacy skills naturally fall into place. That's why I emphasize choice, independence, and a diverse range of reading materials in my classroom.
