Welcome to Kindergarten!
I am so excited to have your child in my class this year. We are going to learn so much together. Please reach out to me if you need anything. I am here to help!
Here is some information about our upcoming Meet and Greet and First Day of School.
Grand Prairie Meet and Greet- Wednesday, August 19th
You and your child may come any time between 11:30 AM- 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19th to meet me, check out our classroom, and drop off supplies. The school supply list is located on the district website. Grand Prairie's Meet & Greet ends at 1:00 PM.
Please put the following in the plastic supply box: Each student should have their own labeled supply box (no zipper pouch, please and thank you 🙂)
- 1 pack of crayons
- 2 sharpened pencils
- scissors
- 2 glue sticks
Please label your child's supply box, backpack, lunchbox, water bottle, headphones (no ear buds). If you already labeled all your supplies, it's all good, no worries!
Name Tag for First Week: At meet and greet, your child will receive a green tiger paw print (including their name/teacher's name/color community) to wear for the first week of school.
First Day of School- Thursday, August 20th
Our first day of school is a full day on Thursday, August 20th.
I will meet all students outside in front of Grand Prairie before the bell rings at 8:25am.
All staff will be outside helping direct kindergarten students to their teachers. Wearing that green paw print nametag during the first week helps this process move quickly.
Backpack Tag: Your child will receive a bus/car rider/walker backpack tags on the first day of school, I will secure this tag to their backpack. Please leave this on their backpack and do not take it off.
Send to School: Please send a water bottle, snack, and lunch every day to school. Make sure that your child knows where their snack is located- Is it in their backpack, will you keep it in their lunch box? Either option is great!
Helpful Reminders: We have P.E. every day, so please make sure your child is wearing gym shoes or brings a pair to keep in their cubby. If you choose to keep a pair of gym shoes at school, please make sure your child's name is on them. You can also send a change of clothes in a labeled plastic Ziplock bag that can stay in their cubby in case of any spills or accidents.
Important Dates:
August 19th: Grand Prairie Meet and Greet from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM
August 20th: First Day of School! This is a full day, don't forget a snack AND lunch.
August 21st: Today we will be starting our :"Kindergarten Color Days" Wear red to school today!
August 24th: Wear orange to school!
August 25th: Wear yellow to school and Grand Prairie Curriculum Night for Parents from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM- More details coming soon.
August 26th: Wear green to school!
August 27th: Wear blue to school!
August 28th: Wear purple to school!
September 4th: Early release at 11:25 AM (Please send a snack and water bottle but NO lunch today)
September 7th: No School
