Welcome back to our page!

This week we worked hard on learning about text structure in informational texts.  I modeled how to read, stop and think about the author's purpose and how information is organized.  In writing, students read Fox and worked with six claims for literary essay. They used reasoning on the first day, then cut out evidence the next day. We are working on balanced essays that include both logical reasoning and relevant evidence to prove a claim or thesis. We also learned about the Fine- base in SWI. The classes also worked on fun creative writing and book clubs.

Next week:

We have a fun week planned with lots of learning. We will continue with nonfiction text structure and inference.  Also, students will write a literary essay using our story Fox and one of the six claims we looked at in the previous week. Friday is an early release day and winter parties.  Each day has a fun spirit theme- please see below for a reminder. Book club novels will be finished this week, so please continue reading and taking notes!
