Frankfort School District 157-C is proud to announce outstanding results on the 2026 Illinois School Report Card. Results include Exemplary designations – the state's highest designation - for all three District schools and student achievement levels significantly exceeding statewide averages in English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, and science.
Released annually by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the Illinois Report Card provides families and communities with information about school performance, student achievement, and academic growth. As part of this accountability system, schools receive annual performance designations based on multiple academic and school quality indicators.
"Having all three of our schools recognized as Exemplary is an outstanding accomplishment for our entire school community," said Dr. DougWernet, Superintendent of Frankfort School District 157-C. "This recognition reflects the dedication of our teachers and staff, the hard work of our students, and the continued partnership of our families. We are incredibly proud of these results and the collective commitment to excellence they represent."
Exceptional Academic Achievement in English Language Arts
Frankfort 157-C students demonstrated exceptional achievement in English Language Arts on the 2026 Illinois School Report Card. A total of 88.9% of District students met or exceeded state proficiency standards, compared to 55.4% statewide - outperforming approximately 98% of all Illinois districts.
In addition to high levels of proficiency, District students demonstrated strong academic growth in ELA, achieving a mean student growth percentile of 57.4, compared to the statewide benchmark of 50. This measure compares student progress over time with that of academic peers who have similar prior assessment performance.
"While we are incredibly proud of the high percentage of students meeting and exceeding state standards, we believe it is equally important to recognize and celebrate the growth of every student," Wernet said. "Achievement tells us where students are performing academically, but growth helps us understand the progress they are making along the way. We want to celebrate not only those students who have reached proficiency, but also those who are working hard, making meaningful progress, and moving closer to that goal. Every student's growth matters, and our responsibility is to continue supporting and challenging each learner, regardless of their starting point."
Mathematics Achievement Significantly Exceeds Statewide Results
Frankfort School District 157-C students also demonstrated outstanding performance in mathematics, with 79.5% meeting or exceeding state proficiency standards, compared to 39.2% statewide. This measure outperformed approximately 98% of Illinois districts.
These results reflect the District's ongoing emphasis on mathematical understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Students also demonstrated above-average academic growth in mathematics, with a mean student growth percentile of 58.2, compared to the statewide benchmark of 50.
"Our mathematics results are another example of the outstanding work happening in our classrooms every day," Wernet said. "We maintain high expectations for student learning while recognizing the importance of individual growth. Our goal is to ensure that every student continues to be challenged, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential."
Strong Student Performance in Science
District 157-C students continued to demonstrate strong academic achievement in science, with 76.9% meeting or exceeding state proficiency standards, compared to 48.7% statewide. These results highlight the District's commitment to developing scientific understanding, inquiry, and critical-thinking skills that prepare students for future academic success.
A Continued Commitment to Student Success and Improvement
"These results affirm the outstanding work taking place across our District, but they also remind us that our work is never finished," Wernet added. "We will continue setting high expectations, examining our practices, and finding ways to improve the educational experience for every student. Our goal is not simply to maintain strong test scores, but to ensure that every child continues learning, growing, and developing the skills needed for future success. That commitment to continuous improvement is what drives our work every day."
