About me!

Hello!

My name is Elizabeth Drwiega, and I am so excited to be working with your child in ELA this year. I graduated from Illinois State University and majored in Middle Level Education. My degree is specialized in teaching grades 5-9, and the subject areas I am endorsed in are English language arts and mathematics. This is my 5th year here at Hickory Creek Middle School. I coach dance intramurals and track.

My educational philosophy revolves around the belief that developing a safe environment promotes a desire for learning and creativity. I think it is important for students to truly understand the material we are learning so they can take it with them in the future and continue to develop that knowledge. I believe in facilitating activities that benefit the class as a whole, as well as, tailoring to the needs of each individual student. One of the most important jobs an educator has is the ability to provide support for any of their students' needs and assure that learning is taking place.

I am a proud Homewood Flossmoor graduate. I currently live in Chicago. I have been a swim instructor at Lions Club pool for the past 10 summers as well as Lesson coordinator for 5 of those years. In my free time, I love to draw, play volleyball, basketball or badminton, and spend time with my family and friends.
