Drama Club

Calling all HCMS actors and actresses! Our HCMS award-winning Drama Club is always looking to add new members. The general informational meeting will be Wednesday, September 8th, from 2:30-3:15, in the HCCMS Media Center. Returning members should also plan to attend. Coaches will be available to answer questions and returning members will be able to read through scripts. Speech/Drama Club is an IESA activity, which begins in September and runs through mid-November.  HCMS will be hosting the State Regional Speech Contest, on Friday, November 5th. Students will perform in front of judges and receive ratings based on the script performance. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of the HCMS Drama Club. (Please note, there is a $40 activity fee for this club.) 

The Drama Club involves students from sixth, seventh, and eighth grade who wish to pursue a dramatic activity. At the first meeting, September 8th, potential club members will receive an overview of the program; have opportunity to ask questions and hear from older students about their experiences competing and being part of the team.

 

Those participating in Drama Club are required to memorize a five-to-ten-minute script written for monologue, duet, or small group acting. Memorization, articulation, vocal and facial expression are key components emphasized each week during practice.

 

The IESA State Speech Contest date is Friday, November 5th, at Hickory Creek Middle School. This concluding activity for the club is where Drama Team members will have their script performances evaluated by state-qualified speech judges. Awards are given for first, second, and third place. Come out and join us for lots of fun! This year’s coaches will be Mrs. Grady, Mrs. Schumacher, Mrs.Swierczewski, Mrs. Drozd, and Mr. Wonder.

This past week, the announcements have been running for Drama Club.  Wednesday after school was the informational meeting for "NEW" club members.  Returning members met with Mrs. Schumacher or me to start selecting scripts.

Attention all Drama Club members: Coaching Rosters will be posted in Drama Club Teams at the end of the day. If you do not see your name on a roster, please contact Ms. Grady through chat right away.  Connect with your coach. By the end of the week, you should have chosen a script.
