A Latte About Me

Hi All!

This year will mark my twelfth in the teaching world. I am a third-grade teacher here at Chelsea Intermediate School in Frankfort, Illinois. Prior to joining the Chelsea family, I taught kindergarten in Las Vegas, Nevada for two years. Before my big move out west, I taught for five years as a second-grade teacher at a rural Indiana school! I also taught Spanish I-IV at the high school level for one year in the same school district. While teaching kindergarten, I was the grade-level facilitator, and I enjoyed working closely with my team. Back in Indiana, I coached Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball, Junior High Track, and Elementary Math Bowl.

I am from a very small town in Indiana. I graduated high school in 2008 and then attended St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, while minoring in Spanish. I ran track in college and stayed busy leading a Spanish Camp for elementary and youth students in the surrounding area. I am the eldest of three children, which helped me discover my love for teaching at an early age.

I am a newlywed! My husband and I are enjoying all the travel and adventures life has to offer. Over the summer, we spent time in Memphis, The Great Smoky Mountains, Florida, Washington, DC, and Israel! We have an adorable 11-year-old chihuahua, Benny, the fluffiest 6-year-old pomsky named Kaleb, & the cutest long-haired, blue merle chihuahua puppy, Presley. Yes, I am a dog momma of three!

In my spare time you can catch me outdoors soaking up the sun, hiking, reading a good book, or working on some sort of interior decorating project. I also like to spend my time organizing, cleaning, & planning. I am a coffee fanatic, Joanna Gaines follower, and Rae Dunn collector

I love what I do, and I work very hard year-round to implement the absolute best practices into my classroom.

I can't wait to meet you!! :)

Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12.   Our lessons for 5th grade students will begin the week of January 18th, 4th grade students will begin the week of January 25th, and 3rd grade students will begin the week of February 1st. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
