HCMS Pre-Concert Schedule!

I wanted to send a reminder of our upcoming schedule change. Please remember there are NO MONDAY MORNING REHEARSALS beginning this week.
 
Here is our upcoming rehearsal schedule:
 
Monday, November 27th - NO MORNING REHEARSAL
Tuesday, November 28th - 7th/8th Grade Orchestra 7:00 a.m.
Wednesday, November 29th - 6th Grade Orchestra 7:00 a.m.
Thursday, November 30th - COMBINED 6-8th GRADE ORCHESTRA 7:00 a.m.
Friday, December 1st - Advanced Group 7:00 a.m.
 
Monday, December 4th - NO MORNING REHEARSAL
Tuesday, December 5th - 7th/8th Grade Orchestra 7:00 a.m.
Wednesday, December 6th - 6th Grade Orchestra 7:00 a.m.
Thursday, December 7th - COMBINED 6-8th GRADE ORCHESTRA 7:00 a.m.
Friday, December 8th - Advanced Group 7:00 a.m.
 
Monday, December 11th - NO MORNING REHEARSAL
Tuesday, December 12th - Possible 7/8th morning rehearsal (TBD)
Wednesday, December 13th - NO MORNING REHEARSAL
 
 
CONCERT DETAILS:
  • When: Tuesday, December 12th @ 6:00 p.m.
  • Where: HCMS South Gym
  • Who: All HCMS Orchestra Students (as well as members of the HCMS Jazz Band)
  • Student arrival time: No later than 5:15 p.m. for tuning and warm-up in the orchestra room
  • Attire: NICE clothes in shades of black, grey, and/or white (no athletic wear or ripped clothing, please.)
  • Length: Concert should be about 30 minutes 

HCMS REHEARSAL UPDATE! (Email from 11/17/23)

Hi everyone!
 
I am super happy to be back to school today. I loved seeing so many of the kids at the assembly this morning!!! Thank you so much for the thoughtful messages and just being so kind with the cancelations these last couple of days. That has never happened before and (fingers crossed!) hopefully won't happen again anytime soon!
 
So down to business! Our concert is just a few short weeks away on Tuesday, December 12th! I'm excited that all of our students, 6-8th grade, are playing quite a few pieces together... but I do want to get all these amazing kids together for a couple of rehearsals before the concert. So beginning the week we get back from break, we will be doing one combined rehearsal each week. One rehearsal day is changing for our 6th graders, but I am still only having them come in 2 mornings each week. I know how hard it is to get some of them out of bed, I wouldn't dare add an extra day! 😆 6th grade will rehearse on Wednesday and Thursday mornings the two weeks leading up to the concert. 7th/8th, you will stay with your regular Tuesday/Thursday schedule.

I am so excited to rehearse our combined pieces! We haven't had an orchestra this size since before Covid hit. It's so great to see our program growing so much again. I hope this email isn't too overwhelming. If you are ever unsure of our schedule, please always check our current calendar (links are always included at the end of my emails). If you've printed out the calendar, please be sure to check the link as we are constantly updating. 
 
I'm almost nervous to send this because I'm pretty sure I've forgotten to include something important! Let's hope this is the only email of mine to end up in your inbox today! 😆

Chelsea Orchestra is up and running!!!

Here is the email with all of the info for the start of the year. Please be sure to check the calendar link and sync it to your phones! :)
 
Hi everyone!
 
This is the first test of our Fifth Grade Orchestra email system! If you're receiving this email, that's a good sign! 
 
Instrument deliveries are supposed to begin the first week of October. Kids expecting these should​ receive everything at their first rehearsals. (We have heard that some of the emails regarding instrument rentals have sadly ended up in spam. If you think you might be missing something, it just may be waiting for you in that pesky spam folder! 🙁)
 
We are looking to begin with small groups in the morning. Kids can be dropped off at 8:15 a.m. on rehearsal days. Please use the main doors on the south side of the building. (Note, doors won't open until 8:15, so please keep an eye on that weather!)
 
Our first week will look like this: 
 
Tuesday, October 10th
Cellos and Basses
 
Wednesday, October 12th
Violins and violas
 
After this first week, we will begin our regular full orchestra rehearsals! These are always on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for all instruments!

Otherwise, we should have more info for you shortly. If you have any concerns with upcoming deliveries, be sure to reach out directly to the rental company. Our rep visits us regularly, but they're an outside company, so we don't always have direct contact through the school.
 
We can't wait to get started! We will see the kids soon!

HCMS Orchestra Update 2023-24

Hi everyone!
 
Here is our official new school year kick-off post! Woohoo!! I'll make this as short and sweet at possible! 
 
Morning rehearsals will begin the week of September 11trh. 
 
Monday/Wednesday mornings: 6th Grade Orchestra 
Tuesday/Thursday mornings: 7th/8th Grade Orchestra
 
Doors will open at 6:55
Rehearsals begin at 7:05
 
*Any 6th graders wanting an extra challenge are welcome to also come play along with our older group. And, as always, any 7th and 8th graders wanting service hours are more than welcome to come help out with our 6th Grade Orchestra! The more the merrier!
