ERIN'S LAW
Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for their students in grades Pre-K through 12. In response to this legislation, Frankfort School District 157-C will be presenting, "Child Lures Prevention: Think First and Stay Safe", curriculum for the 2017-2018 school year. Our presentations will occur in November and January.
Our next date of Erin's Law is Wednesday, Jan 24th.

AD-ELA: Our fourth unit in ELA will be centered around stories of literary heroes and Greek Mythology. We will be reading a variety of myths as well as our class novel "Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief". Students will have the opportunity to select a research topic related to our novel and teach the class about their topic. Each student will present as their topic appears in our novel. In writing, we will begin to practice and refine our writing skills in the genre of personal narrative.

MATH: Module 7: Exploring Measurement with Multiplication

In this 20-day module, students build their competencies in measurement as they relate multiplication to the conversion of measurement units. Throughout the module, students will explore multiple strategies for solving measurement problems involving unit conversion.

Parents looking for homework help: I recommend Duane Habecker's videos on YouTube. The module number and lesson number can be found on the daily assignments for the week. Parents can see how it is being modeled in class to help their child at home.

STATE FLOAT PROJECT: Students will bring home a letter detailing the State Float Project. Students will select a state and create a shoe box parade float that shows everything people would want to know about this state. This project will mainly be completed in school. Students will begin research the week of May 7th. Students will have access to a state book and websites at school and have a research packet to complete. Students will need to start collecting their materials for this project. All materials will be due May 18th. Students will construct the floats in class the week of May 21st. All floats will be due on May 30th. The float parade will be on June 1st.
