3rd grade students will play mallet instruments, triangles, tambourines, guiro, woodblocks, maracas to demonstrate the duration of whole notes, half note, quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes.
4th grade students will continue to review rhythmic notation and will compose in small groups using quarter notes, quarter rests, and barred eighth notes. Students will have their choice of unpitched percussion instruments.
5th grade students will continue reviewing rhythmic notation. They will participate in various singing and playing activities reviewing quarter note/rest, eighth note, and half note, and introducing the dotted half note.
