Principal's Letter

Hello and welcome to Hickory Creek Middle School! It is with a great deal of pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year! For parents/guardians whose children are entering our school for the first time, a special welcome and thank you for the trust you have placed in us. For parents/guardians of returning students, please know that the same care and commitment this district has shown in years past will continue, as we move forward with some different faces in the administrative team.

Hickory Creek is an amazing place to grow, learn and prepare for the future. Attended by students in Grades 6th, 7th and 8th we welcome challenge and accept adversity. We offer a full academic and co-curricular program that prides itself on its “Tradition of Excellence.” As part of a district that has been recognized on many levels of the state we have been selected as a Demonstration School” by the Association of Middle Schools and an Illinois Horizon School “School to Watch.” Stable resources, experienced and highly qualified staff members, high achieving, involved students, supportive parents and comprehensive programs are indicators used frequently to describe our district and great school.

In addition to placing an emphasis on the Common Core State Standards core knowledge, we are infusing additional skills into our curriculum to prepare students for a future that is undefined. These skills are critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. We will be working to prepare students for their future; a future that will allow our students to succeed in life, citizenship and work. Effective use of instructional technology is encouraged throughout all of our classrooms and Digital Citizenship is engrained into our Social Studies.

Here at Hickory Creek, our school demonstrates academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational structures and processes designed to support a trajectory toward excellence. We are only successful with the continued support from our community, staff and students. Your input is very valuable as we continue to grow to support all of our learners. Please do not hesitate to call or stop by the office to give suggestions, feedback or positive comments. Go Tigers!

Sincerely,
William Z. Seidelmann
