Week at a Glance: November 10th - 14th 

 

*Reading:📚 

EQ – What causes change?

This week we will read the book, "Climate Change." With this text we will continue to focus on finding the main idea and supporting details in informational texts. We will also practice using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words. Students will take the informational summative assessment on Thursday, November 13th. We will then end our week by learning about Amanda Gorman and read her book, "Change Sings."

 

*Math:📊 

Module 3 – Multiplication and Division with Units of 0, 1, 6-9, & 10

This week we will begin Module 3 and complete lessons 1-5. We will work on using the commutative and distributive properties of multiplication and also use a letter to represent the unknow in an equation. Students have been working hard on our multiplication challenge! Students have made multiplication cards in class and should be practicing them at home.

 

*Writing: 📝

This week we will continue our research simulation unit. Students will locate evidence in the text and work on their essays.

 

*Science: 🧪
We will continue our new unit - Climate & Weather. 
 
 
*Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. Our lessons  3rd grade students will begin the week of February 1st. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
